Project Description
The primary objective of Liquid Thresholds is to push the practical boundaries and applications of structural engineering by designing structures which we believe may propose new solutions to bearing capacities and structural failure. Throughout the course we designed structures such as bridges, platforms, and columns, all of which attempted to take basic concepts of geometry and employ them in new and refreshing ways. Our triangular platform projects takes the simple idea of the strength of folded geometry and turns this structural strength into a load-bearing platform which could hold massive amounts of weight. Our bridge final was primarily about the concept of structural equilibrium through opposing forces, with the concept that the compressive forces facilitated by the bottom wooden structures would be equally opposed by the string members in tension at the top of the structure.
