Project Description
How can we move beyond simply balancing ecosystem health and human activity, and begin to encourage reciprocal interactions? Our resilience plan for Connecticut’s Southeast Coast relies on preserving large swaths of open space and building social, ecological, and infrastructural connectivity. A commuter bus line, greenway bike path along the Thames River, and park trail loops, all gradually implemented in phases, provide benefits to both humans and environment. Addition and protection of green space alleviates impacts of riverine flooding and stormwater runoff. Ultimately, this plan creates new connections between people and nature.
