Project Description
Our project is a two-scaled intervention in a bundle of infrastructure west of the National Historical Park. We redevelop a series of corridors leading into the bundle; these substitute vehicular traffic for pedestrian traffic while selectively removing and rebuilding the infrastructure. A concentration of civic destinations creates a gateway district at the bundle’s core. Pedestrian pathways, gathering spaces, and vertical elements claim slivers of the skyline creating a series of interconnected public spaces anchored at the ends of the corridors. The bundle’s new role as a condenser and entrance into the city transforms it from a barrier into an urban feature.
