Models can be submitted to the Micro8 printer as any kind of mesh, preferably an STL. Please export your mesh from whatever modeling software you use in millimeters to ensure it is scaled properly. Your geometry should conform to certain guidelines spelled out the in the clay printer design guide.

We highly recommend you read through the Potterbot manual available here. For more information on how to create different surface effects, consult Ceramic Syntax, our other design guide.

If there are any issues with your geometry, it will be removed from the print queue and you will be asked to make changes before resubmitting it. You should include notes with your mesh when submitting it stating the layer height, and nozzle width you’re expecting to use. Default will be a 1mm layer height with a 3mm nozzle width. Specify if you want to print a shell only and whether you want to print a bottom. A top is not an option for a shell only print.

Submit your part for printing to SimplyPrint. You can upload an OBJ or STL, or if you have a toolpath, you can also submit a GCODE file. From your files page, select your mesh or toolpath then click on the Add to Print Queue button on the bottom right of the page.

At this point, wait for contact from either the E3DPL monitor or an AT staff member to contact you to start your job. This printer is not automated and typically requires much more hands on operation to process.
