Virtual workstation information
Login access to the workstations are controlled through Active Directory (AD). AD gives login access to specific groups of people based on their Yale login credentials.
Currently, access to workstations is limited to:
YSOA students, faculty, and staff
Login policies
You can log in to any workstation on the RDP list that you have access to. However, these workstations are all set to force a logout after 16 hours of use. This ensures that workstations remain free and are not accidently left logged into for long periods of time.
Also when you attempt to login to a RDP session, and another person is logged in, you have the option of logging them out or existing the session. We ask that you exist the session choose an open workstation instead.
We also ask that you limit the number of simultaneous logins to a MAXIMUM of 10. Abusing this resources will result in your overall loss of access to these workstations.
Software
Due to licensing agreements and numbers of licenses purchased, not all of the software that is installed on the default YSOA workstation image is also installed on these virtual workstations. in addition, the specialty software at the Architecture School that requires special installation will not be installed on these workstations.
For a complete list of software installed on the virtual workstation, please click on the following link - Current Software List
You can install your own software on these virtual machines. However, these workstations may restore themselves to a “default state” periodically. This will remove/restore any software, data, and configurations made to this machine while it was logged in. The School of Architecture is not responsible for loss of software or data.
Type in a machine name into the Remote Desktop Client. You will have to put in the full machine pathway. Example: “Arch-VW-001.yu.yale.edu”
Available Machines:
Arch-VW-001 through Arch-VW-010
