Exhibition Credits

The World Game Café is an exhibition and game lounge that traces a genealogy of “world gaming” from the nineteenth century to the present. As empires expanded, cities industrialized, and technologies reshaped our daily lives and worldviews, game boards emerged as miniature stages where the shifting order of the world would not only be consumed, but actively rehearsed in participatory fashion. From expeditions of colonial exploration to exercises in environmental stewardship, The World Game Café gathers together an array of examples from across nearly 200 years of game design. We invite visitors to experience this long history of worldmaking through play.
